iPad Check-In: What Patients Are Asked to Complete
What does the kiosk show a patient when they check in?
By default, the kiosk offers the same intake parts that were selected back when the appointment reminder was set up. Whatever was checked at appointment creation is what the patient sees on the iPad at check-in.
What if the patient never got a reminder in the first place?
If no reminder was ever sent for that appointment (for example, if the Intake Questionnaire Type was NoReminder), the kiosk doesn't just show nothing — it falls back to its own separate rules for deciding what to require.
What are the kiosk's own fallback rules?
There are two:
- HPI is always required. Because Chief Complaint/HPI is per-visit, a prior submission never exempts the patient — the kiosk will always ask for it in this fallback scenario.
- Medical history is required only if the patient has never submitted it before. If they've submitted it on a previous visit, the kiosk won't ask again.
Does the kiosk ever require Patient Agreement or PCC Consent?
The spec doesn't call out separate kiosk logic for these — they follow the same one-time rule as everywhere else: they're required until signed, then never again.
