Why Certain Checkboxes Are Pre-Checked when Sending Intake Forms

After I create an appointment, why are some intake parts already checked and others aren't?

The system pre-selects checkboxes based on what the patient has already submitted, so staff don't have to remember each patient's history manually. This is called smart selection. Whatever is checked when the reminder goes out is exactly what gets sent to the patient — so it's worth glancing at before confirming.

Why is Chief Complaint / HPI checked?

It's auto-checked whenever the patient has never submitted an HPI before. Since HPI is per-visit (see the Intake Parts FAQ), keep in mind it can still make sense to check this manually even for returning patients, since a past HPI never satisfies the current visit.

Why is Demographics/Histories/ROS checked (or not)?

It's auto-checked only if the patient has never submitted a medical history. If they've submitted one before, it stays unchecked by default, since that information is persistent and already on file.

I don't see checkboxes for Patient Agreement or PCC Consent — why not?

Those two items aren't controlled by the smart-selection checkboxes at all. They're sent automatically with every reminder — regardless of how Chief Complaint or Demographics are checked — until the patient has actually signed them. Once signed, they stop being sent.

If I uncheck a pre-selected box, what happens?

Whatever is selected at the time the reminder goes out is what gets sent. If you uncheck a box that was auto-selected, that part will not be included in the reminder for that appointment.
